This week and next we are going to begin work on our final presentation. So to start we had to chose a template from a website. We chose a very pretty one that really shows us personality wise. But we also added our own touch to make it more us. Then we have to figure out what we are supposed to put in our final presentation.
We asked Mr. Barker and we are basically supposed to put down our challenges, successes, and more about our project overall. Which should be interesting because at first we definitely had a lot of challenges. But we also had several successes as we continued working. We did really enjoy this project and we are said it has to come to an end. Making this jewelry is definitely a great decision we made. We loved every minute because we love western fashion and being able to do things on our own. So we combined the two and made some very beautiful pieces of jewelry. We plan on probably continuing to make jewelry even though this project will be over because we just really enjoyed it. If you do still want to buy pieces you can for $7 like always. Also leave us a comment if you enjoyed seeing us grow through this process and the pieces that we made.

This week we made the same aztec cactus as before with the fish hook style just we did not add the extra hook extension on it. The second pair are felt cut out with a sliver piece that is embroidered, and a turquoises stone in the middle. These are the last set of earrings we are making for our Genius Hour project. Also these earrings are not for sell because these are earrings that we made specifically for Addison mom. But you still can tell us if you like these sets.
We really love these earrings especially the the sliver ones with the turquoises stone in the middle. We don't know if these are our favorites or if the cow print star ones are our favorite. But as we said these are the last set of earrings we are making and next week we are going to start the presentation process of setting it up. So we will watch videos and talk to Mr. Barker about setting our presentation. We are hoping the process will not be to hard for us to complete. Most of our earrings are still available to buy if anyone is interested. Just look at our post below and let us know. Also if you enjoyed our processes of making these earrings let us know that to. All the unsold or available earrings are still $7 a pair. Leave a comment down below if you like these earrings or want to purchase a previous pair. These earrings we actually completely hand made. We call them dream catchers because with the hoop in the center then the tassels hanging down they remind us of dream catchers. The tassels that we used are from the feather earrings we made last week. We did want to throw them away so we kept them, put them on a hoop, and added a fish hook style to it. We think that they are different then what we have previously made and we love how they turned out.
They look very simple but they were actually harder to make. We had to make sure we grabbed the right tassels and put them all on the same way. Also the hoop did not want to close which is bad because the tassels could just slide off then. We might change the name from dream catcher to something else but that is what we will call them for right now. Also we think these colors really ascent each other so they look very good together. These are for sale like the other ones we have not sold. They are $7 like all of our earrings. Hopefully we can make more sales so that we can continue to buy and make more earrings. If you are interested in buying these let us know down below. Or if you just like them or have a suggestion for us we will loved to hear from y'all. The first picture features the aztec arrowhead earrings that we made last week but we just forgot to take a picture of them. This week we made a duo pair of feather earrings. They are brown and blue feather earrings with a fish hook style and beads in the middle. They had tassels on the bottom of them but we took them off because we didn't like how it made them look. But we did save all of the tassel pieces because we have an idea for them next week.
Tatum made the brown feather pair. Addison made the blue feather pair. These were difficult for us because the hooks did not want to open or close. After we took the tassels off we felt that they looked more classy and less random almost like they were out of place. We definitely think that they are prettier and people will like them more now. We are not sure if we want to sell the aztec arrowhead earrings yet. But we are going to sell both sets of feathers. They are $7 a piece like the other ones we sell. No one has claimed them yet so let us know if you are interested in purchasing them. Leave us a comment down below if you like any of these earrings. We decided to challenge ourselves today and make two pairs of earrings. We know there is only one picture but we forgot to take a picture of the other pair. But that picture will be put in next weeks blog post. The ones in this photo have already been claimed for someone to buy. The other pair we have not decided yet, but if we do sell them they will be $7 like the other pairs.
Addison made these green cactus earrings. The are a cut out cactus that has a wooden texture to them. They have a fish hook piece to them, with no extra length added. These have already been claimed for someone to buy but if anyone is interested in them we can make more like them. Just to be sure to let us know. Even though they are simple they are light and cute to wear with any outfit. Tatum made the other pair that picture is not included but will be next week. The other earrings are a small metal arrowhead with aztec print on the front. They are also a fish hook piece, with no extra length added. We really like these so we don't know if we will sell them but we are willing to sell if someone else really wants them. But there won't be a price difference they will still be $7. Next week when we post them leave a comment if you are interested in buying them or if you generally like any of our creations. Today we tried something new while making earrings. With these aztec print cactus earrings have a fish hook style with an extra hook to add a little length. We decided to do this to try something different for this week. We also thought that this would be a little more challenging which it was but we love how these turned out. With this style, adding the extra length is something we might do more often but we are not sure what we will do moving on.
Today we also made our first sale. We were asked if we were selling our earrings and we said that we had thought about it. But the girl who want the earrings said she would pay for them. So now we are selling certain pairs of earrings for $7 a pair. The ones that we have already sold are the two previous pair that we have made. The ones that are in this post are also available to buy if anyone is interested. The reason behind selling them for $7 a piece so the be able to keep some money for ourselves but also to buy more supplies to make earrings. Also we thought that $7 is not very expensive for a high school student to buy. But also it is a good deal because they are durable and well made. So if you are interested in any design that we have made or are going to make please let us know. Also if you like these earrings leave us a comment down below. These are the star and leather cow print earrings. They are the same fish hook style as the last pair. These are our favorite pair or design of earrings. We made them the same way using the same pliers as last week. Our goal is to make one pair per week for now.
Tatum-my struggle was that it was hard getting the hook to open and to close it and i also ended up putting it on the wrong way so had to do it all over again. Addison- this week I improved on my time with making these earrings. The hook was easier to open and close. But I did still have trouble with shaking while closing the earrings. We both wanted to improve by being able to make them faster without any problems like putting them on backwards. If we can learn to make them faster we can make more pairs per week. We want to try to make more challenging earrings like ones that we have to make the add ons ourselves. We also want to experiment with different kinds of hooks. If you like these earrings comment down below. We created our first set of earrings today. We chose these because we thought that they would be fairly easy for our first pair. You can also see the equipment that we used to make these. The clear box has all of the wire, hooks, and clips that we need. The small pliers are what we are using to pull the hooks back and close them once we get the earrings on.
The earrings themselves our leather with a cow cut out. We found all of these items are Hobby Lobby. Even though they did not cost a lot they are still really cute and simple. But they were a little difficult to make. But after a few tries we finally got them. Whenever I tried to close the hook the pliers kept slipping and I would miss. This happened many times on both of the earrings. But I realized if you held the earring and turned the hook and earring upside down it was easier to close. We are so happy with how they turned out and that we actually didn't put them on backwards. If you would like to leave a comment down below tell us if you like them or not. We did by any of our items to make the jewelry yet. So instead of wasting time we decided to do some research on the items that we wanted to make. We looked up some inspiration items and found a lot of cool ideas. But we wondered where are we going to by what we need without costing an arm and leg. The first places that popped in our minds was Hobby Lobby and Micheal's.
We chose to look on Micheal's website first. There was a few bead items, cactus, sunflower, and cow. But nothing that really stood out to us that we would want to make. So our next option was the Hobby Lobby website. We found a ton of items and ideas on this website. There was cows, leather, cheetah print, cow print in all styles, sparkle, cactus, sunflower, and many others. We loved everything that we seen on this website. They also sold the chains, wire, and hooks that we needed to make the jewelry. We picked many items that we are going to buy. We were even so excited about this we planned on going and buying the items this weekend. Our goal is to make ten of each item we try to make. Ten does not seem like a very large number and should be easy to accomplish. When we say ten we mean ten sets of earrings, ten necklaces, ten rings, and ten bracelets. They will all be somehow in a western style. If anyone really likes them we would be willing to sell pieces also.
We plan to buy earring hooks and add on for the earrings. Wires for rings and something to measure our different sizes. Chains for necklaces with add on for those also. Chain or strings for bracelets. We plan on buying these items from Hobby Lobby and Micheal's. We will learn how to make these items by watching YouTube videos and asking friends and family who already know how to make items like these. Throughout our Genius Hour Project we will be making a timeline of our products. So if we mess up or do bad on a piece we can figure out how to fix it. As we go through to project if we accomplish something to next item we make will be a little harder. We will do different designs of jewelry such as hoops, fish hook style, and other shapes and sizes. Tune in next week for our first set of earrings. |
